A RETURN TO NATURE
With the invention of industrialized agriculture, our food system has gone into disrepair. We have transformed our food system from what was once a diversified, rhythmic, and regenerative system to one dependent on fossil fuels, pesticides, and processing. Our country is dependent on a system of high energy inputs and fossil fuel consumption. It is now flooded with the practice of mono-cropping and its products have bled their way into ever aspect of our lives. Monocropping is the planting of only one species in large amounts to efficiently mass produce for distribution. This is done with meat production as well. You will recognize it in the feed lots and farm fields you often drive past. They are not what they once were. Imagine a pastoral setting with a diversity of plants and animals. Cows and sheep grazing in the fields. Chickens scattered around them scavenging as they eliminate pests and spread natures original organic fertilizer. All of them coexisting and contributing symbiotically to a biological system run solely on solar power. Each character of the story working and contributing to the overall health of the land and eliminating the need for high exhaust machinery, pesticides, and artificial fertilizers that poison our waterways and force extreme amounts of additives and processing to our food. Imagine a diverse ecosystem that is self protective against diseases and destruction and designed to mimic nature in a regenerative and sustainable cycle.
